SurveyMonkey is one of the major players in the online survey industry, with over 12 million surveys created. The site offers a range of surveys, from simple question sheets to more complex surveys involving design, branding, bias elimination and randomization.
Survey Monkey is active across Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and runs a blog. Notable partners include MailChimp, MadMimi, ActiveCampaign, GroSocial and CleverReach.
Ease of Use
The primary strength of Survey Monkey is its intuitive Web interface, which makes it very easy for anybody to create a survey and export the data collected. It also holds more advanced features, such as the ability to branch questions based on responses, and exporting to different formats.
Free vs. Cheap
The free limited account offered by Survey Monkey stores a maximum of 100 responses, but this can be upgraded at a small cost. The “Professional” subscription, at $19.95 per month, allows 1,000 responses plus $.05 per response over this amount. A Professional account, allows you to create unlimited surveys with an unlimited number of questions.
You are able to create email lists with custom invitations using Survey Monkey. Once again, the interface is very easy to use, and you are even able to track an individual’s identity through the survey. However, with a free account you are limited to 100 names.
