A paper survey is the use of printed media to ask direct questions. These surveys almost exclusively involve the ticking of boxes or listing preferences in a numerical order.
Paper surveys offer the benefit of extreme ease of use for the customer. Additionally, a paper survey is less intrusive than other methods, allowing customers to respond in their own time, with privacy and anonymity if desired.
However, the processing time and cost needed to analyse a large scale paper survey can make other survey methods more attractive.
