How to contribute

Funnel Wiki encourages you to be bold, get involved and contribute to the development of its pages. In general, try to write clearly and concisely, and make sure you are always contributing with the community in mind (see About Funnel Wiki for our values and goals). You might edit a page to add multiple paragraphs of information, or it could be as simple as fixing a typo or spelling mistake. Likewise, you should also feel free to create brand new pages, where appropriate.

Please feel free to include:

  • General information regarding best practice
  • Examples of best practice
  • Lessons you've learned from previous executions
  • Links to other useful resources

Editing an existing page

It's very easy to edit the contents of a wiki

  1. Click the "Edit" page tab at the top of the page
  2. Make changes to the text (if the changes are minor [eg. fixing a typo] click 'This is a minor edit')
  3. Click 'Show preview' to review your changes
  4. Before you save a change, enter a short note in the summary box describing your changes. Don't spend too much time thinking about it, but try to give a little description of what you just changed e.g. "fixed typo" or "added more info about telemarketing". The summary gets stored alongside your edit, and allows people to track changes in the wiki more effectively
  5. Click 'Save page'

Creating a new page

There are two ways to create a new page.

The first is to create a new page on an existing page:

  • Create a link on the appropriate existing page (ie. page name)
  • Click 'Save page'
  • Click on your new page link
  • Create your content
  • Click 'Show preview' to review your page
  • Click 'Save page'

The second is to create a new page not linked from an existing page:

  • Go to the address bar of the current wiki page you're on and change the URL according to what you want your page to be called. Eg. To create a page called 'New page', the URL would be
  • Then, add your text, 'Show preview' and 'Save page'

If your change is actually a functionality request, rather than simply a new page, Please feel free to add your thoughts to our Wiki wishlist

Manual formatting

Top tips:

  • To make a heading, wrap it in equal signs like this =The heading you want=.
  • To make a 2nd level heading, use two equal signs like this =The heading below that=
  • Keep going with 3, 4 or 5 if you need, Headings add real clarity about the structure of your document
  • The page will automatically gain an index at the top of the page to reference these headings
  • To created a bulleted list, insert a '* ' (asterisk and space) at the front of the line
  • To make a numbered list, use a hash at the front of the line instead (# )
  • To make a second level bullet, use two stars (** ) at the front of the line
  • To make text bold, wrap it in 3 single quotes like '''this''' and it will show like this
  • To italicise, do the same thing but use two single quotes like ''this'' and it will show like this
  • To make a bulleted list entry, just start a series of lines preceded by '* ' (an asterisk and a space).
  • To make a numbered list entry, do the same but use '# ' instead (a hash and a space)
  • To learn how to embed videos, please visit Embedding Videos on the wiki
  • Create a new page by inserting the name of the page inside square brackets like this [[New Page Name]] and that will render like this New Page Name. when you click on that link it takes you to a new page by that title - easy.
  • Give it a friendly name that is different from the title by adding [[New Page Name | This is what will show]] and it will present like this This is what will show
  • To make a table, use the formatting tools - it's easier. But if you're a sucker for punishment, insert the following:
    • a First row with just this to start the table: {| class="wikitable"
    • another row with this to start each row (as many as you need): |-
    • then another row with each this repeated for each column (as many as you need) started with '| ' and then your text
    • or if your text is short, you can present it like this for your row: | text || text || text |
    • and finally a row with this to end your table: |}

Here's an example:

{| class="wikitable"
! Header text !! Header text !! Header text
| Example
| Example
| Example (note the two different ways data are entered in this example: both approaches are valid)
| Example || Example || Example
| Example || Example || Example

renders like this:

Header text Header text Header text
Example Example Example
Example Example Example
Example Example Example

Protected text

Whilst Funnel Wiki is largely editable (as a true wiki should be) some content has been protected for the purposes of honouring original authors, retaining links, and so on. Only administrators have the ability to edit, remove or add protected text.

Protected text is easily identifiable via <protect> tags in the Wikitext window, though if you accidentally try to edit, remove or add protected text, you will get an error message.
